We are offering new times for classes.  We hope these times meet your needs.

Classes: 9:00am-11:30 am,  New  1:00pm-3:30pm, and 6:00pm-8:30pm

 

Whether you are a novice or need more experience with a particular task, Poynor’s Computer classes offer an economical way to get hands on computer training in a fun and friendly state-of-the-art-environment.  You will notice that some of our class curriculums have been changed to better meet your needs, so be sure to read through the course summaries carefully.

Start your computer training with hands-on introduction to basic computer fundamentals from learning to improve your mouse skills to understanding the difference between OS software and Application software.  After completing this course you will be able to: 


 

Turn your computer on and off the correct way and start programs.

Use the backspace and delete key and type text in a text box.

Control Windows with the control buttons.

Select text in different ways and use basic formatting.

Use the mouse and keyboard for navigation.

Point and click, right click, and left click, at the appropriate times.

Communicate with the computer through the use of menus, check boxes, radial buttons and drop down dialog boxes.

 

Cut, copy, and paste text in the same document and into a different document.

Vista Windows Basics      Winter/Spring 2010 7.5 hrs.          Cost: $50.00
Pre-requisite: Basic Computer or equivalent knowledge.

This class is the next step after Computer Basics Vista and is also recommended for anyone already familiar with the Computer Basics fundamentals.  Discover how to better communicate with your Windows environment in a relaxed hands-on setting.  After completing this course you will be able to:  

 

Use the Desktop ,Flip 3D, and Taskbar for moving and organizing

Create folders and subfolders to organize your work.

Work with dialog boxes.

Move, rename and delete files.

Turn on and use the Quick Launch.

Create Shortcuts.

This is one of our most popular classes.  Learn to use the basic features in Word.  Continue with our next classes in this sequence to become proficient in this program.

Navigate the WORD window.

Insert Symbols.

Select text using the mouse and Keyboard.

Preview and print a document.

Change page margins and orientation.

Create a basic block letter.

Preview, open and edit a document.

Make tabs go the way you want.

Utilize fonts, faces, styles and color.

This class takes you a step further in your knowledge of  WORD and helps you to make your documents look more professional with different formatting techniques.  After completing this course you will be able to:

Find and Replace text.

Control a document with paragraph spacing, line spacing, indents and breaks.

Create stunning text using the WordArt feature.

Access Complete    Winter/Spring2010 17.5 hrs. Cost: $120.00
Learn the concepts of a relational data base using Microsoft Access.  Subject areas include designing and building a database, creating and editing tables, creating queries to extract information from tables, saving and editing forms for data entry, producing custom reports,.  Forms and reports will be created using available wizards.  Tables and queries will be created using the design view. You will use a query to extract data from an Access table.  Various methods and functions will be used to pull out necessary data.  Reports with totals, subtotals, grouping, and other functions will be generated.   This class is for those who are familiar with the computer.

Prerequisite:  Windows XP Basics or equivalent knowledge    
Students will learn the fundamentals of worksheets using Microsoft Excel 2003.  They will learn to create and edit spreadsheets.  Formulas will be used to automate work.  Editing, designing, and printing will be taught.  Students will be able to create headers and footers for reports. Cut, copy, and paste commands will be used.
